Edinburgh Based Wedding Photographer & Filmmaker
Hey! My name is Simon Hird, and I am a wedding photographer and filmmaker based in Edinburgh, Scotland. However, I am often found working all over Scotland, the rest of the UK and occasionally overseas too! Having photographed or filmed nearly 200 weddings now, I’ve realised that my love for wedding photography is in documenting the real and unplanned moments. I pride myself in an honest approach to photography & video, creating work that feels both relaxed and emotion-filled. For my photography I tend to use a mix of digital and film mediums. I love the textures and colours of film photography, and I think it works so well for documenting weddings in a classic and beautiful way. Using both digital and film in tandem gives me both reliability of digital and the magic of film, which I’ve found to be an amazing combination for weddings.
Weddings are so personal and I love being able to capture peoples days in a way that feels beautiful and true to who those people are. In the quiet moments of wedding days, I am often found documenting the surroundings, the space, the details, and, of course, the food! Having worked in hospitality and later as a photographer for travel magazines, I have an eye for detail and am always on the look out for the little moments/details that build together to give the full story of your wedding.
I know wedding planning can be a mix of exciting and daunting, but I’m always here to help. Whether that is to share advice, recommend suppliers or be a helping hand in whatever way I can. I pride myself in being more than just a photographer - nothing is ever too much trouble. I’m so happy to muck in on wedding days, whether it’s moving tables, putting buttonholes on the groomsmen or getting that extra photo of you and your best friend that you’ve not seen for ages! I’m there to make sure your day is relaxed and documented beautifully.
